Apple was the first to come out with a virtual assistant siri on october 2011,it was novel at the time and it set the tone for development of virtual assistants across all platforms.
Apple tried improving it and enabling on their other devices, mac, ipads and apple watch.
10 years later siri is pretty bad compared to google assistant or alexa.
You say "Hey Siri" and it will listen to you and try to understand what you are saying. Siri can recognize native english speakers and can read out loud .
But for most questions it will give you a link to the web, just like google search.
Many people have disabled Siri on iphone and macs.
Then comes chatGPT, then the chatGPT API with 90% price drop compared to GPT3 model.
I have been exploring all the places I can leverage chatgpt API and I have found a way to make Siri more useful.
By just adding a Siri shortcut you can make siri to invoke chatgpt API and get a response and read it aloud, or copy it to clipboard.
It feels so refreshing to use Siri how it was intended to be used.
Also since it is icloud synced you can get it on your mac, ipad and apple watch as well.
